Expanding an established foreign business into South Florida

Client objective: A client from Russia wanted to extend an existing business abroad into the United States and to move into South Florida to run the new operation.
Relevant challenge: An L-1A transfer depends on more than the executive. The foreign business and a U.S. affiliate have to be genuinely related, the U.S. operation has to be real and organized, and the role the transferring executive will hold has to be described in terms an officer can evaluate.
Work performed: The firm worked on the corporate and immigration sides together: establishing the relationship between the foreign business and the U.S. affiliate, documenting the affiliate's operations in South Florida and preparing the L-1A petition and supporting record around the executive's role.
Outcome: The petition was approved and the affiliated business is now operating in South Florida.

Family immigration

Reuniting families from Jordan and the wider Middle East

Client objective: Families from Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries wanted relatives to join them in the United States and to reach permanent residence.
Relevant challenge: Family matters of this kind turn on records assembled abroad and on the choice between processing a case at a consulate or inside the United States. Civil documents, translations and proof of a qualifying relationship have to hold together across two systems.
Work performed: The firm assessed each family's eligibility, planned the sequence of the petition and the immigrant visa or adjustment stage, and prepared the documentary record and the interview.
Outcome: Multiple clients ultimately became lawful permanent residents of the United States.

Relevant challenge: EB-5 rests on the money as much as on the investor. Where the capital came from has to be traced and documented, and the investment itself has to be papered in a way that matches what was actually done.
Work performed: The firm handled investor-immigration strategy, source-of-funds documentation, investment documentation and case preparation.
Outcome: The clients' EB-5 petitions were approved.
